Prof. Mona Lisa will work on a crustal model and the seismic hazard of the Makran subduction zone in southern Pakistan. The area is densely populated with the large cities of Karachi and Hyderabad.Recently two strong (M 7.7) earthquakes occurred there, April 16 and September 24, 2013. Therefore, an improved and updated estimation of the earthquake hazard is of crucial importance for this part of Pakistan.
