GFZ German research centre for geo sciences

Fergana

Main aim of the experiment is the investigation of the local seismicity (distribution and kinematics) within the Fergana basin and the Southern Tien Shan in Southern Kyrgistan. This will be achieved by installing a temporary local seismic network in 2009 and 2010. The results derived from this project will contribute to decipher the relationship between geodynamics, neotectonic block structures and the occurrence of landslides in this region. The experiment is part of the planned project "Dynamic of landslide Processes" in souther Tien Shan (Kyrgistan) in relation to tectonics and climate (POF II-Theme „Global Change Observatory Central Asia“).
