Anthropogenic deformation

Surface deformations in urban and agricultural areas require special considerations, because they immediately affect the infrastructure and security of human beings. Radar interferometry is a powerful tool for detecting and observing surface deformations, especially in urban areas due to high number of artificial scatterers that provide high energetic signal response over time. InSAR based measurements support the understanding of triggering or ongoing processes related to the observable surface displacements or can help in surveillance of anthropogenic activities.
