GFZ German research centre for geo sciences

November 2023: Welcome Dr. Ronghua Cui

We are happy to welcome our new section member Ronghua Cui.

Ronghua will stay in GFZ for one year as a visiting scholar to do research work about the effect of mantle convection on geoid anomalies. She obtained her doctoral degree in solid Earth geophysics from the University of Chinese Academy of Sciences. In the past time, she has done work about the influence of different mantle viscosity structures on modeling the geoid anomaly from mantle convection and using the observed geoid anomaly to constrain the viscosity of the mantle. In GFZ, her project focuses on implementing additional constraints from mineral physics, dynamic topography and plate motions on modeling the geoid with specific focus on the origin of the Ross Sea geoid low.
