Welcome Dr. Anna Jentsch to our section!
During her PhD in Section 4.8 Geoenergy at the GfZ, Anna focused on the application of different fluid chemistry methods to understand the structural control in geothermal systems as well as the complexity of fluid flow in the upper crust. For this reason, she travelled to volcanic geothermal systems, e.g. in New Zealand, Mexico and Ethiopia, to evaluate and further develop the different methodological approaches and measurement concepts for geothermal exploration and monitoring. During her time as a postdoc at ETH Zurich, Anna Jentsch developed an underwater field laboratory consisting of an underwater drone and various physiochemical sensors for use in lakes. As part of the EMERGE project in our section, Anna will measure tectonic CO2 emissions on a regional scale to contribute to a better understanding of CO2 release at rifts and its impact on past and future climate change.
