Achim Brauer new member of the Austrian Academy of Sciences

Achim Brauer, head of the Climate Dynamics and Landscape Evolution Section, has been elected a corresponding member of the Austrian Academy of Sciences.

Prof. Dr. Achim Brauer has been leading the Climate Dynamics and Landscape Evolution Section at GFZ since 2007. Now the Austrian Academy of Sciences (ÖAW) has elected him as a corresponding member abroad in the Mathematical and Natural Sciences Division. 

At the annual election meeting of the ÖAW, 31 new members were elected, including 15 corresponding members abroad. With the membership, the ÖAW honours scientists for their outstanding scientific achievements and their reputation in the professional world.

"The membership in the ÖAW is a great honour and commitment for me. I look forward to contribute my experience and knowledge to the work of the academy, meeting new colleagues and learning from the wide range of expertise in the academy.", says Achim Brauer about his membership.

Achim Brauer was elected to the ÖAW in particular for his research in the fields of palaeolimnology and environmental and climate history. He is currently involved in several projects in palaeoclimate research and climate reconstruction.
