As elected representatives of the postdocs, the Postdoc-Reps preserve the interests of the postdocs and represent them internally and externally.
The postdoc representatives speak for the interests of the postdocs towards the GFZ’s Executive Board and within committees. They have an advisory function in the Scientific Council of the German Research Centre for Geosciences and are part of the Advisory Board of the Graduate Program. The representatives of the postdocs are in contact with other GFZ resources and offices, such as the Career Center and the Staff Council, and discuss topics such as the Wissenschaftszeitvertragsgesetz - WissZeitVG.
The Postdoc-Reps organize a monthly postdoc lunch, where current concerns and needs can be discussed and experiences can be shared in a relaxed atmosphere. In addition, the Postdoc-Reps would like to strengthen the networking between postdocs of different sections and departments, so that the impressive professional expertise at the GFZ can be optimally used for research work.
In addition to the activities within the GFZ, the Postdoc-Reps also promote the exchange with other institutes and are in contact with the postdoc representatives of GEOMAR and AWI as well as with the Geo.X network.
For questions and suggestions, the postdoc reps are happy to receive an email to: firstname.lastname@example.org
