The key goals of RIESGOS are an innovative research in risk analysis of the various natural hazards and associated cascade effects and the integration of the results into a modular multi-risk information system. This includes data collection through innovative monitoring tools (new satellite missions and automated in-situ surveys), the development of novel analysis tools and the provision of system components that can be flexibly used and connected to existing systems.

To achieve these goals, three priorities have been defined, which are closely linked:

  • "Research" is to address new scientific and technical questions and challenges for natural hazards-related risk assessment and minimization and to develop innovative research solutions.
  • "Development" is intended to specifically design and prototype a modular multi-risk information system for needs in the partner countries (as well as in the international environment).
  • "Market" is intended to support the economic exploitation of results and the development of market potential for the partners involved and other small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs).
