Swarm Summer School 2016

How do processes within Earth’s interior, in the atmosphere, the oceans, and the near-Earth space give rise to changes in the Earth’s Magnetic and Gravity fields? From 14 to 16 September, the section Earth's Magnetic Field conducts a Summer School at the GFZ within the frame of the satellite mission Swarm, organized in the course of the Priority Programmes "Dynamic Earth“ and „PlanetMag“ of the German Research Foundation DFG.

12.09.2016: How do processes within Earth’s interior, in the atmosphere, the oceans, and the near-Earth space give rise to changes in the Earth’s Magnetic and Gravity fields? From 14 to 16 September, the section Earth's Magnetic Field conducts a Summer School at the GFZ within the frame of the satellite mission Swarm, organized in the course of the Priority Programmes "Dynamic Earth“ and „PlanetMag“ of the German Research Foundation DFG.

Changes of System Earth are in focus of both DFG Priority Programmes. The multi-satellite mission Swarm investigates these fields as well as fundamental physical parameters. The Summer School not only imparts knowledge to the next generation of Earth scientists, the participants also actively contribute to solving different research questions themselves. During three days at the GFZ master-, PhD students and postdocs practically work interdisciplinary within several projects on a better understanding of Earth’s magnetic and gravity field and its environment.
