Wissenschaftliche Interessen:

My research interests and contributions have been focused on the deep carbon cycle and specifically on the carbonates stability at high pressures and temperatures. According to the numerous investigation of natural samples along with the experimental studies at high pressures, carbonates play a significant role in the deep mantle melting, metasomatism and diamond formation (Yaxley et al., 1991; Palyanov et al., 1999; Dasgupta and Hirschmann, 2006, 2010b). Therefore, investigation of the stability of Ca- and Mg- carbonates at the high P-T, and at the redox conditions relevant to that of the Earth's mantle is of great importance. My past research project included investigation of the CaCO phase diagram up to 120 GPa, and study of the mechanisms and kinetics of the redox reactions MgCO 3–Fe and CaCO 3–Fe at 6-150 GPa. The research was based on the experiments conducted using multi anvil apparatus and DAC combined with modern methods of analyses such as synchrotron x-ray diffraction (XRD), Raman spectroscopy, EDS and TEM analyses. Currently, my research includes study of structural properties of carbonate solid solutions at high pressures and temperatures by in situ spectroscopy.
