Funktion und Aufgaben:

Research associate in Geochemistry/Mineralogy

Wissenschaftliche Interessen:

My research interests involve the application of experimental and analytical techniques to study processes occurring at mineral-water interfaces. This includes:
  • crystal dissolution, nucleation, growth and transformation processes, including the effects of inorganic and organic solutes
  • mineral replacement reactions and the development of intracrystalline porosity
  • associated mobilization and immobilization of elements

Karriere:

  • since 08/2015: Postdoctoral research associate at GFZ Potsdam, Sektion 3.5 "Interface-Geochemie"
  • 11/2014 - 07/2015: Postdoctoral research associate at the Department of Geosciences (Petrology of the Ocean Crust), University of Bremen, Germany
  • 09/2013 - 10/2014: Postdoctoral research and teaching associate at the Institute for Mineralogy, University of Münster, Germany
  • 10/2012 - 12/2012: Postdoctoral research associate at the Centre for Physics of Geological Processes, University of Oslo, Norway
  • 01/2009 - 09/2012: Early Stage Researcher in the EU ITN "Delta-Min" at the Centre for Physics of Geological Processes, University of Oslo, Norway

Werdegang / Ausbildung:

  • 2012: PhD in Mineralogy/Petrology. Centre for Physics of Geological Processes, University of Oslo, Norway
  • 2008: Master of Science in Geosciences. Institute for Mineralogy, University of Münster, Germany
  • 2006: Bachelor of Sciences in Geosciences. Institute for Mineralogy, University of Münster, Germany

Projekte:

My current projects deal with:
  • Crystallization pathways of struvite in the context of phosphorus recovery from wastewater
  • Immobilization of dissolved heavy metals on mineral surfaces
  • Development of novel nanomaterials for potential use in pollutant immobilization and element recovery
