Funktion und Aufgaben:

I am a postdoctoral researcher at the GFZ institute, in the Earth Surface Process Modelling section. My main work at the moment; together with Luca Malatesta, Jean Braun and Guillaume Cordonnier; is the development of a semi-Lagrangian Landscape Evolution Model, in order to being able to (i) separate all fluxes dynamically (e.g. water and sediments), (ii) adapt spatially and dynamically flexible sets of surface processes laws while (iii) maintaining full source-to-sink tracking of provenance and deposition. In other words, we plan to run particles of surface-processes on landscapes and apply given sets of Landscape evolution laws at each movement of these. It will allow us to always know the composition of these particles in term of water, sediment or any other elements, and that no matter which set of laws is utilised. We can therefore dynamically manage lake filling and deposition; always know how much water we have when reaching a lake bottom for example; adapt the model behavior function of the composition of the sediment flux; or track and evolve the composition of sediment fluxes as few example.

Wissenschaftliche Interessen:

In a broader context, I am interested in developing and applying new methods to analyse topography (simulated or real). During my PhD at the University of Edinburgh I worked on the LSDTopoTools research software, developed new algorithms, a python interface and applied it to a wide range of Digital Elevation Models.
