Function and Responsibilities:

I am a research assistant working for the DeepPurple project (https://www.deeppurple-ercsyg.eu/about). My main task focuses on the analysis & quantification of particulates from laboratory & natural samples using a FlowCam (https://www.fluidimaging.com/products/flowcam-5000), a variation of a FlowCytometer, capable of imaging and therefore expanding the scope from simple particle counting to further analysis of the morphology of particles, allowing to distinguish and group particles and improving statistics in the process. The samples range from microbial cultures, minerals from laboratory experiments, to complex multi-phase particulates from snow and ice samples collected during DeepPurple expeditions.

My responsibilities include:
  1. Daily maintenance of FlowCam
  2. Support and training of FlowCam users
  3. Sample preparation and methodology development for data acquisition, especially for algae samples from polar regions

Research Interests:

Microanalytics of microbial & mineral samples
