Research Interests:

Main Research Areas. Petrography and Metamorphic Petrology, Geochemistry and Isotope Geochemistry, Fluid-Rock Interactions, SIMS

Research Interests. My research interests span across different areas of metamorphic petrology and isotope geochemistry, such as: (1) the study of migmatisation processes and the differentiation and evolution of the continental crust, (2) the application of experimental petrology techniques to study oxygen diffusion in garnet, (3) the development and application of new SIMS methodologies to trace fluid-rock interactions in metamorphic systems. My current research interests focus on applying SIMS techniques to study hydration and carbonation of ultramafic rocks at the microscale, for better understanding the physical and chemical conditions favouring serpentinisation processes in various tectonic settings and enhancing permanent storage of CO2 through mineral carbonation reactions. More details on my research can be found on Google Scholar (https://scholar.google.it/citations?user=K43r418AAAAJ&hl=en), LinkedIn (https://de.linkedin.com/in/maria-rosa-scicchitano-02478898) and ResearchGate (https://www.researchgate.net/profile/Maria-Rosa-Scicchitano).
