  • Metamorphic petrology and structural geology with the emphasis on microstructures
  • Shock-induced deformation in accessory minerals
  • Shock-induced melting
  • SEM, EBSD, FIB-TEM methods
  • Zircon, monazite, apatite, titanite, xenotime, rutile

Career:

  • Completed Ph.D at the University of Vienna
  • Completed 2 Postdoctoral fellowships at the University of the Free State
  • Seniour Lecturer at the University of the Free State
  • Currently: Lecturer at the University of the Western Cape

Education:

Graduated from the Lomonosov Moscow State University, Department of Petrology, under the supervision of Prof. L.L. Perchuk.

Completed Ph.D at the University of Vienna under a supervision of Prof. Urs Kloetzli

Projects:

  • Meteorite impact geothermobarometers and geochronometers derived from nano-structures in shocked accessory minerals
  • Study of shock micro-deformation in accessory minerals and its application in geothermobarometry of impactites
  • Geophysical, geochemical, petrological and remote sensing study of the Vredefort granophyre dikes
