Function and Responsibilities:

Senior Scientist

Research Interests:

My background is in geology with a focus on integrated approaches. I hold a German “Diplom” in geology  and a Master of Engineering from the Institute for Technology and Resources Management in Cologne. Present research focuses on thermal and hydraulic characterization of rocks using rock, core, and borehole logging data, on geological modeling, and on model parameterization and thermal modeling at different scales. The methods applied are used to investigate heat flow and the thermal field. The work is imbedded in the field of geothermal energy utilization and subsurface storage.

Since 2017:     Lecturer at the Universicty of Potsdam (Petrothermal geothermics)

Since 2013:     Lecturer at the TU Hamburg Harburg (Utilization of deep geothermal systems)

Since 2004:     Senior Scientist at the German Research Centre for Geosciences

2000/2001:       Environmental management consultant at the Deutsche Gesellschaft für technische Zusammenarbeit GmbH (gtz), Eschborn, Germany.

1999-2003:       Half-time geologist/doctoral student, subject: revisiting heat flow in the Permian Northeast German Basin, German Research Centre for Geosciences and FU Berlin

1996/1997:        University of Hamburg: Seismic campaign ‘Sundaflut’ on the research vessel FS SONNE, South China Sea, 6 weeks.

1994-1999:        Several employments as geologic engineer at different companies, Hamburg, Germany
