PlaMoWa

Plastic monitoring in surface waters

The ZIM network PlaMoWa consists of about 20 German companies and research institutes. The German Research Centre for Geosciences takes part in the network focussing on remote sensing and imaging spectroscopy applications. The network aims at developing products and infrastructure that enable a rapid and reliable monitoring of plastic debris in surface waters to build up a reliable knowledge on the dimension of the contamination as a basis for understanding it's impact on the ecosystems, organisms and human beings and for deriving political and economic decisions.
