The project is establishing a new information and networking service for open access. It aims to improve the exchange within the scientific community on this topic. The three central goals are to provide information, to teach new skills and to advance networking of the existing community.

The new platform is intended to further develop the already existing information platform To achieve this, the project partners will use new services such as forums, help desk, moderated focus groups and new databases to inform on central topics. Barcamps, thematically focused workshops, regional networks, train-the-trainer bootcamps and webinars or online workshops will be used to link up the open access community and stakeholders from science.

The Helmholtz Open Science Office at the GFZ is responsible for the three work packages "Redaktion Internetplattform" (Editing the Internet Platform), "Helpdesk" and "Thematische Workshops" (Topical workshops) together with one project partner each. Within the scope of the work package "Thematische Workshops", the Helmholtz Open Science Office will offer 24 workshops on Open Access throughout Germany.

The project is funded by the BMBF within the "Richtlinie zur Förderung einer Kompetenz- und Vernetzungsplattform im Bereich Open Access" (Directive on the Promotion of a Competence and Networking Platform in the Field of Open Access) - funding number: 16KUV003.

Project start: December 1st, 2019.
