AMREP: Applied Mineralogy for Resource Efficiency of Platinum Metals

Description:

The AMREP project aims to increase the efficiency of platinum-metals and chromium recovery from chromite ore in the Bushveld Complex, South Africa. The project combines (1) geological and mineralogical data from the mine site with textural and element analysis of primary and oxidized ore minerals in the laboratory, to define different ore types based on the concentration and deportment of platinum-metals; and (2) integrate this knowledge with information from beneficiation tests of the different ore types into a geometallurgical model that will guide efficient extraction strategies.
