The vision of this integrated study is a quantitative understanding of megathrust earthquake seismicity in subduction zones and its relation to processes at depth and at the surface.

TIPTEQ is funded by the Geotechnologien Programme of the Federal Ministry of Education and Technology (BMBF). Within this framework, we are currently active in the follwing sub-projects:

• seismology experiment
• Magnetotelluric monitoring experiment
• Thermo-mechanical modellling.
