The Geomagnetische Observatory Vassouras (VSS) was established in 1915 and is operated by the Observatório Nacional - MCT and GFZ since the year 2014. The geomagnetic field intensity and directions are continously recorded at the observatory.
The observatory is member of the INTERMAGNET program.
