Round table for data

The GFZ is a partner in the BMBF-funded EcoDM project.

How can the constantly growing amount of digital data from different areas be used systematically and sustainably? And how can the FAIR principles (findable, accessible, interoperable, and reusable) be taken into account?

The recently launched EcoDM project (for 'Ecosystem Data Management'), funded by the Federal Ministry of Education and Research, will investigate these questions over the next two and a half years. It has a funding volume of 1.7 million euros.

In technical discussions, experts will discuss the selected areas of science, the public sector, business and qualification. The four project partners involved in EcoDM are the Max Planck Society, represented by the Max Computing and Data Facility, the German Archaeological Institute, the Helmholtz Open Science Office located at the Helmholtz Centre Potsdam - German Research Centre for Geosciences GFZ and the Potsdam University of Applied Sciences.

The Helmholtz Open Science Office, which is based at the GFZ, is responsible for the EcoDM work package Economy. In this area, research is carried out into how the re-use of data can be promoted across the fields of science, industry and the public sector. (jz)
