Prof. Dr. David Bruhn to lead EERA's Geothermal Research Programme

As of July 1, 2021, Prof. Dr. David Bruhn will take over the coordination for the European Energy Research Alliance (EERA) Joint Programme Geothermal.

The European Energy Research Alliance (EERA) has become the largest energy research community in Europe. 250 institutions from 30 countries, consisting of universities and public research centers, among others, are dedicated to 18 joint research programmes. These cover the full range of low-carbon technologies, as well as systemic and cross-cutting themes aligned with the EU's Strategic Energy Technology plan.

As of July 1, 2021, Prof. Dr. David Bruhn will take over the leadership post of EERA's Geothermal Research Programme, continuing the work of Prof. Inga Berre, who teaches at the University of Bergen in Norway. Prof. Dr. David Bruhn has been conducting research in Section 4.8 Geoenergy at the Helmholtz-Zentrum Potsdam GFZ German Research Centre for Geosciences since 2005 and has been Professor of Geothermal Engineering at Delft University in the Netherlands since October 2013. As a co-founder of the EERA Geothermal Programme established in 2010, Prof. Dr. David Bruhn now brings the leadership post to GFZ for the second time. Before him, Prof. Ernst Huenges coordinated the research programme from 2012 to 2017 as former head of the section. He was also one of the co-initiators of this research area of the European Energy Research Alliance.
