Bruno Merz, head of GFZ’s Hydrology Section, has been awarded the "Volker Medal".

The International Association of Hydrological Sciences IAHS thus honours outstanding applications of hydrological science for the benefit of society at large. The prize is named after Adriaan Volker (1917-2000), a former president of the IAHS. Bruno Merz works on hydrological extremes, among other things. (jz)
