New Helmholtz Transfer Academy "InnoSuper" launched

The new Helmholtz Academy "InnoSuper" has been launched and will, among other things, convey methods to better integrate knowledge and technology transfer into science.

The Helmholtz Transfer Academy "InnoSuper" was launched at the beginning of 2023. The name stands for "Innovation by Supervising". InnoSuper is aimed at the promoters of innovation processes, i.e. at the GFZ, the supervisors of young scientists and technicians.

The modular academy will teach methods for better integrating knowledge and technology transfer into everyday scientific work and identifying transfer activities in working groups. Supervisors will learn how they can help, for example, not only to publish the results of dissertation projects, but also to protect them as patents, or to develop a business model for open source software, or to initiate scientific policy advice for decision-makers.

The Helmholtz Transfer Academy 'InnoSuper' will be piloted and implemented after a conception phase in which the target group of supervisors will also be involved. The exchange, training and awareness-raising activities will be carried out both via e-learning offers and in presence. In addition, there will be individual coaching formats.

The Helmholtz Transfer Academies are measures and platforms of the Helmholtz Association. From 2023 to 2025, they will promote cross-centre formats that are designed to sensitise, motivate and support researchers across the entire spectrum of transfer from research to industry and society. The general goal of this Helmholtz initiative is to strengthen the transfer culture at the Helmholtz Centres. 'InnoSuper' is implemented by a consortium in which, in addition to the GFZ, the Forschungszentrum Jülich (lead), the Helmholtz Centre Dresden-Rossendorf and the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology are involved.
