21.09.2015|Potsdam: Under the slogan „Celebrating Excellence in Solid Earth Science“ the third Potsdam conference of ILP (International Lithosphere Program) takes place from 21 to 23 September on Telegrafenberg.

The ILP seeks to support international and multidisciplinary research in the fields of geology and geophysics. Focusing on the investigation of the lithosphere, the sphere of solid rock of the upper 100 to 200 meters of the Earth, supported projects e.g. deal with a better understanding of natural hazards as processes of the solid Earth.

The Program was initiated in 1980 by the International Council for Science (ICSU), at the suggestion of the International Union of Geodesy and Geophysics (IUGG) and the International Union of Geological Sciences (IUGS). The ILP is supported by IUGG, IUGS and several National Commities. About 70 scientists from all over the world come to Potsdam to attend the conference.
