Taiwan’s Minister of Environmental Protection Administration visits the GFZ

05.09.2014: A delegation from Taiwan, headed by the Minister of the Environmental Protection Administration, Dr. Kuo-Yen WEI, accompanied by Ambassador Agnes Hwa-Yue Chen, visits our Centre where they acquire an overview on current GFZ research themes in the field of CO2-storage, geothermal energy, risk prevention and early warning systems.

05.09.2014: A delegation from Taiwan, headed by the Minister of the Environmental Protection Administration, Dr. Kuo-Yen WEI, accompanied by Ambassador Agnes Hwa-Yue Chen, visits our Centre where they acquire an overview on current GFZ research themes in the field of CO2-storage, geothermal energy, risk prevention and early warning systems.

Taiwan is closely keeping track on the German plans with respect to the energy transition and is planning to set up a new Ministry as well as the implementation of a Tsunami Early Warning System for the China Sea, explained the Minister. The delegation was impressed by the work of the GFZ presented by Prof. Dr. Hüttl. The signing of a Memorandum of Understanding for future cooperation is envisaged.
