On 29 April 2019, a five-member delegation from the China Geological Survey (CGS), and the Chinese Academy of Geological Sciences (CAGS), headed by Yan Guangsheng, Vice President of CAGS visited GFZ. Reinhard Hüttl, Scientific Executive Director and Chairman of the Board of the GFZ, and scientists from various GFZ sections discussed opportunities to further expand the already existing bilateral cooperation with our Chinese partners.

The four-hour discussion focused on joint research work on the use of geothermal energy sources and the coordination of joint participation in the International Continental Deep Drilling Programme (ICDP). At the end of the talks, Hüttl and Yan Guangsheng signed a Memorandum of Understanding which will further strengthen bilateral cooperation between GFZ and CAGS. (ph)
