01.06.2016: Three early-stage researchers, Dr. Ina Neugebauer, Dr. Sven Fuchs, and Dr. Tomasz Stawski, receive a Marie Skłodowska-Curie Individual Fellowship for a funding period of 24 months. Dr. Neugebauer leaves to the University of Geneva, coming from the GFZ. Dr. Fuchs and Dr. Stawski come to the GFZ. With this EU fellowship early-stage researchers are supported for individually chosen research projects.

Sven Fuchs starts with his research project ITHERLAB „In-situ thermal rock properties lab“ in section Geothermal Energy Systems, on 1 October. From 2013 to 2015 he worked at Aarhus University, Denmark. Tomasz Stawski, previously University of Leeds, GB, starts on 1 May 2017 with his project NanoSiAl „Silica and alumina nanophases – the building blocks for the ground under our feet“ in the GFZ section Interface Geochemistry. Ina Neugebauer, section Climate Dynamics and Landscape Evolution, leaves the GFZ for her project IRONLAKE „Establishing stable IRON isotopes of laminated LAKE sediments as novel palaeoclimate proxy“on 2 June, going to the University of Geneva, Switzerland.

With an Individual Fellowship talented early-stage researchers are supported who hold a doctorate or have at least four years of research experience. The fellowships are funded by the EU Framework Programme for Research and Innovation Horizon 2020. At the GFZ the application of these fellowships is supported by the Project Office. (ak)
