11.04.2017: On the 77th annual meeting of the Deutsche Geophysikalische Gesellschaft DGG, from 27 to 30 March in Potsdam, Sofia-Katerina Kufner, GFZ section Lithosphere Dynamics, was awarded with the Prize for the best presentation.

In her talk, titled „Zooming into the Hindu Kush slab break-off: a rare glimpse on the terminal stage of subduction“, Sofia-Katerina Kufner gave a presentation of her latest research results that were already published in the scientific journal Earth and Planetary Science Letters. The Prize honors the best presentation of young scientist up to the age of 32.

Since 2016 Sofia-Katerina Kufner works as a scientific assistant at the GFZ. From 2012 to 2016 she wrote her PhD thesis, supervised at the GFZ and the Free University of Berlin, on the topic of seismotectonic in the Hindu Kush. (ak)
