Personalia | Professorship for Harald Schuh at the University of Teheran

Professur an der Universität Teheran für Harald Schuh

08.02.2017: For many years successful cooperation exists between the GFZ and partners from Iran. Numerous PhD students and postdocs from Iran have been working at the GFZ. During a GFZ delegation visit at the University of Teheran in June 2015 a Memorandum of Understanding was signed between the two parties, seeking for a further intensification of collaborations. Now, the University of Teheran awarded Harald Schuh with the title of an adjunct professor.

Harald Schuh is Director of the GFZ Department of Geodesy and Head of the section Space Geodetic Techniques. He already holds a professorship in „Satellite Geodesy“ at the Technical University of Berlin. Since 2015 he is President of the International Association of Geodesy (IAG) and member of the executive committee of the International Union of Geodesy and Geophysics (IUGG).

The new professorship is in the College of Engineering where at the University of Teheran the department of Geodesy is allocated to. For now no lectures are scheduled but a workshop “Geodesy and Geophysics” is planned for 2018, with the participation of colleagues from the GFZ. (ak)
