08.01.2016: Starting on 1 January 2016, Prof. Charlotte Krawczyk is Head of the new GFZ section Near-surface Geophysics. This new section is closely linked to the section Geophysical Deep Sounding, and will pursue basic research in applied and crustal geophysics.

For over 20 years Charlotte Krawczyk works in the field of geophysics, with an emphasis on seismic methods and seismic interpretation. She developed her focus from the marine to the amphibian and now the terrestrial realm.

After finishing her studies in physics and geophysics and being awarded with a PhD from Christian-Albrechts-University Kiel Charlotte Krawczyk worked at GFZ in the field of geodynamic investigation of subduction zones and sediment basins from 1995 to 2007. In 2007 she went to the Leibniz Institute for Applied Geophysics (LIAG), Hannover and was appointed Professor in the Department for Applied Geophysics at TU Berlin.
