01.10.2015: Prof. Monika Koch-Müller will be new Head of GFZ-section Chemistry and Physics of Earth Materials, starting on 1 October, succeeding Prof. Wilhelm Heinrich at an early date.

Prof. Koch-Müller is at GFZ since 2001, in 2007 she was appointed to Adjunct Professor (apl) in Mineralogy at the TU Berlin. As a senior scientist at GFZ she hitherto was responsible for the FTIR spectrometer laboratory (FTIR = Fourier Transform Infrared) and the multi-anvil-press laboratory of the section. Her research interest comprises the experimental simulation of the Earth's Interior and the characterisation of the geomaterials with spectroscopic and X-ray diffraction methods.

Prof. Heinrich will be working in the section as Senior Scientist until his retirement in 2016.
