The Verein der Freunde und Förderer des GFZ (FFGFZ) awards the best GFZ dissertation of a year with the Friedrich-Robert-Helmert Prize. Following the member conference the prize was awarded last Thursday to Sofia-Katerina Kufner and Benedikt Soja.

16.06.2017: The Verein der Freunde und Förderer des GFZ (FFGFZ) awards the best GFZ dissertation of a year with the Friedrich-Robert-Helmert Prize. Following the member conference the prize was awarded last Thursday to Sofia-Katerina Kufner and Benedikt Soja.

PhD candidates that finished their dissertation within May 2016 and May 2017 could apply for the prize endowed with 1500 Euro. Sofia-Katerina Kufner did her PhD with the title „Seismotectonics of the Pamir-Hindu Kush area, Central Asia – constraint from the analysis of passive seismic data“ at the Free University of Berlin and was working at the GFZ section Dynamic of the Lithospere. Benedikt Soja worked on the topic „Anwendung eines Kalman-Filters in der Auswertung von VLBI-Daten“ at the GFZ section Space Geodetic Techniques and finished his PhD at the Technical University of Vienna, Austria.
