Fabrice Cotton , head of the section Seismic Hazards and Risk Dynamics, has been elected chairman of the EFEHR consortium. This abbreviation stands for European Facilities for Earthquake Hazard and Risk.

As a network, the newly founded EFEHR consortium connects universities and research institutions or geological services in Turkey, Greece, Italy, Switzerland and Germany. The aim is to advance research in the field of earthquake hazards and risk analyses and, for example, to produce European hazard maps. (jz)
