01.09.2016: Today, nine apprentices start their training at the GFZ. For the first time, there are also two students starting with their Dual Course of Study in cooperation with the Technical University of Brandenburg. Also today three volunteers begin their scientific gap year at the GFZ.

From today on two apprentices in office communication, one in media and information services, a future physics laboratory assistant, an apprentice in electronic engineering for devices and systems, a future industrial mechanic and three future qualified IT specialists are enriching the GFZ. Furthermore, three volunteers use the opportunity to gain some insight in the sciences with a scientific gap year at the GFZ after finishing school.

For the first time two students start their Dual Course of Study at the GFZ’s Computing Center. This course of study was newly designed in cooperation with the Technical University of Brandenburg. It is combining scientific studies with a professional praxis. During their studies the students are GFZ employees. They can immediately apply their theoretical knowledge at the GFZ during two days a week and during the semester break. If their studies are successfully completed they reach the degree of a „Bachelor of Science“. (ak)
