International Union of Radio Science honors Professor Rawer

From 23 to 25 September the Annual Meeting of the State Commission of the International Union of Radio Science (U.R.S.I., http://www.ursi-landesausschuss.de/) is being held in Miltenberg.  The Chairman of the Commission G (Ionosphere) is Dr. Matthias Förster (GFZ, Section 2.3).

23.09.2013| From 23 to 25 September the Annual Meeting of the State Commission of the International Union of Radio Science (U.R.S.I., http://www.ursi-landesausschuss.de/) is being held in Miltenberg.  The Chairman of the Commission G (Ionosphere) is Dr. Matthias Förster (GFZ, Section 2.3). 

On Tuesday, 24.09.2013 a Special Session is being held in honor of the 100 birthday of Prof. Karl Rawer. Speakers from 8 countries and participants from more than 10 countries will be taking part in this Session which has been organized by Dr. Förster and Prof. Bodo Reinisch (Lowell, Massachusetts). Prof. Rawer will also be taking part in this event. Prof. Rawer is one of the pioneers of ionosphere research; he began his research of the ionosphere long before the 2 World War. The "International Reference Ionosphere (IRI, http://iri.gsfc.nasa.gov/)", one of the first global empirical models of Environmental Research arose from his initiative more than 40 years ago and has, to the present day, been further developed as the accepted norm.
