For more than 15 years, Prof. Parolai has worked in the field of engineering seismology. His main research focus is on the development of new methods for estimating short distance ground motion variability during earthquakes that affects the distribution of damage. His scientific research covers several aspects of seismic risk assessment and mitigation. He furthermore deals with the interaction between different geo-hazards and cascading effects. Stefano Parolai teaches engineering seismology, surface waves analysis, and inversion methods at the TU Berlin.
