16.09.2013|Potsdam:  The Board Meeting of the Central-Asian Institute for Applied Geoscience (CAIAG) is being hosted this year by the GFZ German Research Centre for Geoscience in Potsdam. The members of the Supervisory Board and the Founder Group, including the Kyrgyz Minister of Finance, Olga Lavrova, and the Minister of Emergency Situations, Kubatbek Boronov, have emphasized the positive development of the Institute and the joint research results obtained during the past years.
Just two weeks ago, the Scientific Advisory Board also delivered a positive vote. Both co-directors Dr. Jörn Lauterjung (GFZ) and Dr. Bolot Moldobekov (ZAIAG) were reelected to their posts.
CAIAG which was co-founded by the GFZ has now been the central partner for research projects initiated by German scientists in Central Asia for the past decade. The infrastructure set up during the past years delivers data on research of the water cycle, geodynamics, climate and resource management, as well as on geo-risks and their influence on society. The results of complex multi-risk analysis are taken into consideration in the sustainable development of the whole region.
