The international network of Young Earth Scientists (YES) has a national Chapter in Germany, too. On December 1st the German YES Chapter has been founded at the GFZ. The aims are – among others – the support of young researchers in geosciences, international collaboration within the geoscientific disciplines and strengthening of outreach. Moreover the Chapter is going to organize the 5th Young Earth Scientists Congress from September 9 – 13, 2019 in Berlin.

Thomas Rose (University of Frankfurt) has been elected as “President”, Treasurer is Michael Haas (GFZ), Secretary is Gamze Koc (University of Potsdam).

The network is open for early-career geoscientists who are primarily under the age of 35. If you are interested get in touch with Christine Bismuth at GFZ´s International Office. (rn)
