We aim to explore the shallow and deep subsurface using state of the art passive and active seismic exploration techniques.

Your responsibilities:

  • design and implementation of fibre optic distributed strain sensing measurements under laboratory as well as field conditions
  • implementation of seismic processing routines
  • data analysis of data collected in measurement campaigns
  • comparison of fibre optic data with data from conventional seismic acquisitions systems
  • close collaboration with project partners from academia and industry in the field of data acquisitions as well as section 2.7 "Near Surface Geophysics" at GFZ

Your qualifications:

  • MSc degree (or equivalent) in geophysics, physics, optical engineering, mathematics, informatics or equivalent
  • expertise in fibre optic measurement techniques or seismic data analysis will be considered an advantage, but is not a necessity for the application
