Innovation Funds and Projects

The Innovation Funds of the Helmholtz Centres are a special grant from the Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF), advertised by the Helmholtz Association . They provide the transfer points at the appropriately funded Helmholtz Centres with additional budgets, e.g. for the implementation of their own innovation projects and the establishment of transfer bonus systems. At the GFZ, a number of innovation projects have been developed and validated, in particular through the Innovation Fund, which has been established since 2016.

Once again this year, innovation projects were selected for funding by the GFZ Innovation Fund. The jury chose three projects from the field of technological advancement of devices and processes.

Spin-off fluxtec

The spin-off project fluxtec stands for a young team of experienced geologists with the goal to bring research results into application. We aim to offer innovative soil gas analytics in the early phase of geothermal exploration and during reservoir operations. The value of our research and development has been demonstrated in international projects with industry partners over the past 10 years.
