Interdisciplinary Research and Training

Research at GFZ benefits from interdisciplinary exchange. We foster cooperation through networks that provide links to other scientific disciplines. In order to incorporate interdisciplinary approaches into the research and training of young scientists, we primarily support our young researchers in obtaining active participation in those networks.

We work at the interface between external networks and the GFZ by aggregating information and offers of network partners, disseminating them to specific target groups, and coordinating related GFZ activities. One focus is dedicated to the partners' interdisciplinary training offers for young scientists:

Focus Geosciences and Data Science

  • HIDA - Helmholtz Information and Data Science Academy
  • HEIBRiDS - Helmholtz Einstein International Berlin Research School in Data Science
  • Geo.X - Research Network for Geosciences in Berlin and Potsdam
  • NFDI4Earth - National Research Data Infrastructure for Earth System Sciences

Focus Geosciences and Social Sciences

We link topics on scientific exchange, questions on career development and support of interest for young scientists in close cooperation with the Career Center and graduate education team through corresponding activities in the Geo.X Network (ECS).
