Legal Matters and Organization

We work in the following areas:

  • Legal Department

The Legal Department is the central contact for legal matters of the centre. The responsibilities of the Legal Department include drafting and reviewing contracts, advising the Executive Board in legal matters, and representing the GFZ in and out of court in legal disputes.

  • Administrative IT

The team of the Administrative IT supports the enterprise software SAP used at the GFZ, which maps all essential business processes of the GFZ. The range of tasks includes ensuring the operation and all necessary further developments due to changing requirements at the centre.

  • Organization and Program-related Controlling

Here, the focus is on the design and adaptation of business processes. In addition, this area is responsible for external reporting, including the progress report which is prepared annually within the framework of the GFZ's program-oriented funding.

  • Risk Management and Internal Controlling

The GFZ has implemented an integrated risk management system to ensure the continued existence and future achievement of the research centre's goals through the early identification, evaluation and control of risks. Risk management is coordinated centrally, but is based on decentralized responsibility in the organizational units. Furthermore, the qualitative and quantitative internal assessment system QUIBS is maintained as part of the internal reporting system.
