Geo.X is a strategic partnership with the aim of fostering the Berlin-Potsdam region as an international centre of geoscientific competence. An important element is the support of young scientists, e.g. by training courses or course lectures.

The GESEP-School of the German Scientific Earth Probing Consortiums offers training courses for young scientists in the field of scientific drilling.

The Intercontinental Scientific Drilling Program offers several training and educational courses in the field of scientific drilling, nationally and internationally.

Once a year the GFZ together with the Alfred-Wegener-Institute Helmholtz Centre for Polar and Marine Research AWI, the Institute for Advanced Sustainability Studies IASS, the Potsdam Institute for Climate Impact Research PIK, and the University of Potsdam presents the Potsdam Summer School. This Summer School is a transdisziplinary and interactive event for early-career scientists and young professionals from the private sector.
