Scientific Infrastructures
The „Scientific Infrastructures“ organizes and cares science services such as satellite communication for global networks and observatories. A central position is thereby taken by the adaptation and development of modern information technologies, which are located in the Centre for GeoInformation Technology CeGIT (http://www.gfz-potsdam.de/portal/gfz/cegit;jsessionid=C88789E50DFD1AC6CE2C9B186077334A). The supply of scientific information in the form of print media and increasingly in electronic form by the Library and Information Services LIS is also part of the main tasks.
Computing Centre
The Computing Centre is to be considered as a service provider in the context of the research tasks. The essential objective is the deployment of integrated infrastructures, which allow for user-friendly cross-platform work and communication.
Modular Earth Science Infrastructure
Modular Earth Science Infrastructure (MESI) contains different instruments and instrument pools, laboratories, data and information portals.
Observatories
The "Global Change Observatories (GCO)", "Plate Boundary Observatories (PBO)" and TERENO are supposed to observe long term processes like the Global Change and tectonic processes.
Scientific Drilling
Scientific Drilling plans, develops and supports drilling projects for basic geoscientific research, geothermal exploration and CO2 storage. International projects are supported mainly within the framework of the International Continental Scientific Drilling Program (ICDP) as well as national and international projects of different funding agencies.
Library and Information Services LIS
The Library and Information Services is a special library, which provides services to the scientists on the campus Telegrafenberg.
