BioPetS Flux
Present day lateral and vertical heterogeneity of oil composition in petroleum reservoirs is characterized using polar compounds and stable isotopes while the original charge is reconstructed using petroleum asphaltenes.
High Temperature Methane
We examine source rocks stemming from all different depositional environments to evaluate which kerogens develop a late gas potential in the course of their maturation and to define the kinetics of primary and secondary gas generation.
Early Thermal Gas Formation
Predicting petroleum phase and composition
Biogenic Methane Potential
BioMeP will work out numerical models to retrace diagenetic pathways leading to methane formation. It is the final aim of BioMeP to numerically predict a bacterial methane potential in selected basin areas.
Predicting Petroleum Quality
The Project aims at developing compositional models for the prediction of petroleum quality ahead of drilling. Here we use pyrolysis techniques for the analysis of source rocks and petroleum sytsem modelling for the integration of results. Project partners include Chevron, ConocoPhillips, Devon, Petrobras und StatoilHydro.
