Scientific interests:
My background is in geology with a focus on integrated approaches. I hold a German “Diplom” in geology, with a focus on hydrogeology and groundwater modeling and a Master of Engineering from the Institute for Technology and Resources Management in Cologne. Present research in the exploration geology group focuses on thermal and hydraulic characterization of rocks, on geological modeling, and on model parameterization and thermal modeling at different scales. The methods applied are used to investigate heat flow and the thermal field. The work is imbedded in the field of geothermal energy utilization and subsurface of CO2-storage.
Projects:
- Geological model and integrated caprock and reservoir characterization of the CO2SINK storage site (North German Basin)
- Integrative geological modeling (CO2MAN) of the subsurface and the reservoir in Ketzin, at the CO2SINK storage site
- Data management system and thermo-hydraulic site model for the CO2- Enhanced Gas Recovery Project in the Altmark, Germany (CLEAN)
- Geothermal utilization in low-enthalpy settings and determination of thermal rock properties in Denmark; cooperation with the Danish project “The geothermal energy potential in Denmark – reservoir properties, temperature distribution, and models for utilization” at GEUS.
