In-Situ Test Facilities Groß Schönebeck
IN situ test facilities using the deep boreholes in Groß Schönebeck to support the development of system components for a reliable use of Geothermal Energy.
The operation of a thermal water loop using the two wells in Groß Schönebeck which reach to a depth of nearly 4.3 km (~150 °C), will provide the basis for INGE. Temperature, pressure, phase behavior and salinity of the circulated natural fluids provide extreme hostile test conditions. Here, key system components will be incorporated, continuously tested under different operational conditions, and subsequently improved.
INGE offers a unique research and technology infrastructure to qualify materials and system components for sustainable long-term operation of Enhanced Geothermal Systems. INGE may also provide an excellent interface for developing hybrid solutions (geothermal & biomass etc.).
