The European Macroseismic Scale EMS-98
The EMS-98 is the macroseismic scale being developed within a multidisciplinary Working Group of the European Seismological Union (ESC) within 1988 up to 1998. The ESC has officially recommended in a resolution of the General Assembly the use of the EMS-98 for macroseismic investigations in their member states. Moreover, the EMS-98 is applied in the meanwhile on all continents.
CEnter for DIsaster Management and risk reduction technology
The project Center for Disaster Management and Risk Reduction Technology (CEDIM) founded in 2002 as a common undertaking of the Universität Karlsruhe (TH) and the Helmholtz-Zentrum Potsdam Deutsches GeoForschungsZentrum (GFZ). It is dealing with various aspects of catastrophes. The section 2.6 is involved in the sub-project Earthquake Risk.

Deutsches Forschungsnetz NaturKatastrophen (German Research Network for Natural Disasters) is a multidisciplinary project for calculation of different types of natural hazards and risks - earthquakes, flooding, storms and forest fires - for Germany.
